What Is a Review Schema Generator?
A review schema generator formats a rating and review text into Review JSON-LD (or AggregateRating for a summary across many reviews), defined by schema.org. This is what lets Google show star ratings next to a product, recipe, or business listing in search results.
Google's guidelines require that review markup reflect genuine, visible reviews — self-serving or fabricated review schema on your own product pages, without real third-party reviews, is against policy and can result in a manual action.
How to Use This Generator
- Pick what's being reviewed — product, business, book, app, and so on.
- Fill in the reviewer, rating, and review text exactly as it appears on the page.
- Optionally add an aggregate rating if the page displays a summary across multiple reviews.
- Copy the JSON-LD and paste it near the review content, then confirm with Rich Results Test.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Self-reviews on your own products. Google explicitly disallows using review schema for a business's own opinion of its own products or services.
- Fabricated or purchased reviews. Ratings must reflect real customer feedback.
- Missing bestRating context. If your scale isn't out of 5, set the correct
bestRatingvalue so the star display renders correctly. - Aggregate rating with no real review count. Don't include
aggregateRatingwithout a genuine, matching review count on the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add review schema for my own products?
You can mark up genuine customer reviews of your products, but not your own promotional opinion of them — Google's guidelines specifically prohibit self-serving reviews.
What's the difference between Review and AggregateRating?
Review represents one individual review with its own text and rating. AggregateRating summarizes many reviews into a single average score and count — you can include either or both.
Does a 5-star rating guarantee a rich result?
No. Valid markup makes a page eligible for a star-rating rich result, but Google decides whether and how to display it.
