What is Local Business schema?

Local Business schema is structured data that describes a physical business location in a machine-readable format. It can include the business name, address, phone number, website, opening hours, images, geographic coordinates and other details that help search engines understand the location.

Use the most specific business type that accurately matches the location. For example, a restaurant can use Restaurant, while a dental clinic can use Dentist instead of the broader LocalBusiness type.

How to use the Local Business Schema Generator

Start with the business name and physical address. Then add the specific location page URL, primary phone number and normal opening hours. Optional fields let you add images, a logo, service areas, geo coordinates, payment methods and social profiles.

The JSON-LD preview updates as you type. When the details are accurate, copy the JSON-LD or the complete <script> tag and add it to the page that represents that location.

Local SEO schema tips

Keep the schema consistent with information visitors can actually find on the page. Do not add a fake address, inaccurate opening hours or business details that only exist in the markup.

For businesses with several locations, create a separate LocalBusiness entity for each location rather than combining different addresses into one entity. Google also recommends using the most specific LocalBusiness subtype that applies.

About ratings in LocalBusiness markup

The generator includes optional AggregateRating fields because they are valid Schema.org properties. However, Google specifically recommends LocalBusiness aggregate ratings for sites that collect reviews about other local businesses. Do not add self-serving ratings simply to try to generate review stars in Google Search.
