About the Solar Command Center

Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Click the Auto-Detect Location button above to begin the simulation. You can also manually type your Latitude and Longitude.

Step 2: Adjust the Hardware Settings to match your system. Set your exact system size in kW, the direction your panels face, your roof tilt, and optionally dial in real-world shading from trees or buildings.

Accuracy & Engineering

This tool merges precision astronomical data (via SunCalc) with physical photovoltaic limits. It calculates your panels’ exact Angle of Incidence—ensuring a 30° tilted, south-facing panel shows different power curves than a flat roof setup.

To provide realistic outputs, it applies an 85% baseline derating factor before computing custom shade modifiers. This mirrors real-world physics, accounting for:

  • Wiring resistance and DC to AC inverter losses.
  • Thermal degradation (panels lose efficiency as they heat up).

Advanced Features

  • Weather Sync (Optional): Connects to Open-Meteo for live atmospheric cloud cover, or allows you to manually simulate different weather conditions.
  • Time-Travel Simulator: Turn off “Live Mode” and drag the slider to forecast power generation for any minute of the day.
  • Appliance Allocator: The tool automatically distributes available wattage to high-priority appliances first (Fridge > AC > Fans > Lights).
  • Persistent Settings: All your configurations are securely saved in your browser locally.
  • Shareable Profiles: Use the Share Config button to generate a custom URL. Anyone opening the link will instantly load your exact setup.

Technical Limitations

Appliance wattages are fixed averages. For example, a 1 Ton Inverter AC is calculated at a constant 1100W draw, though in reality, an inverter compressor fluctuates. The battery simulator uses a linear charge/discharge curve and does not factor in complex electrochemical constraints.
